Stage 3

Students in Stage Three work towards clearly defined learning goals across the key learning areas. Programming is based on students' learning needs utilising the quality teaching framework. Our students are encouraged to take on an increased level of responsibility for their learning in preparation for high school.

Stage Three students continue to develop their thinking and communication skills. They are provided with a variety of opportunities to develop and share their learning in ways that require them to draw on a range of skills and strategies. Stage three students are required to work productively on independent tasks and to work collaboratively with others in group tasks. They engage in a range of activities that promote challenge, require perseverance and higher order thinking skills such as debating and problem solving.

Critical thought is promoted through engaging learning experiences. Whether developing questions for scientific investigation or analysing global environments, students are encouraged to engage with and respond to information in ways that allow them to develop the skills required to become lifelong learners.

Years Five and Six are special years for our students and they enjoy a well-rounded educational experience where many opportunities allow them to participate in extracurricular activities. Students participate in a variety of activities from PSSA sports through to spelling and public speaking competitions, dance, drumming and choir groups and a five day sports and recreation camp for year five students and an overnight excursion to Canberra for Year Six students.

Our Year Six students contribute to the school community by organising fundraising events to support the school and to finance their own year six farewell. They also enjoy a 'reward day' towards the end of the year to ensure that the high standard of behaviour demonstrated by our students is acknowledged.

We enjoy strong links with our local high schools and this ensures that our students make a comfortable transition to high school, in addition to our own school based transition program.
